ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Jack Boyd

ABOUT ME

I’m a local through and through. Born and raised in the Shire, I attended St Aloysius Primary School in Cronulla, and St Patricks College in Sutherland before completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (International Economics) at the University of Wollongong.

After being admitted as a solicitor, I worked in commercial law focussing on Directors’ and Officers’ liability, professional indemnity and cyber risk insurance before moving into a non-legal role as a Senior Cyber Security Advisor.

In 2016 I was elected as a Councillor for B Ward as part of former Member for Miranda Barry Collier’s team. Barry is retiring at the election and has endorsed me to continue fighting for you.

Since being elected to Council I have taken a fresh approach to the role – working collaboratively with other Councillors and putting politics aside to ensure the best outcomes for the community.

But I won’t shy away from a fight. Whether it’s on Council, or when the State or Federal governments aren’t delivering, I will always fight for you.

Why i'm standing

Growing up in the Shire has given me a deep appreciation of how unique our community is.

From our beautiful beaches and waterways to our commitment to active lifestyles and sense of pride in our community – the Shire is special.

Over the next three years there are a lot of important decisions Council will make:

  • deciding the appropriate level of development across the Shire through drawing new zoning maps;

  • tackling traffic congestion and parking availability in our town centres;

  • choosing what services Council should provide and the quality of our services and facilities;

  • designing and building large community infrastructure projects like the Seymour Shaw Park upgrade and refurbishment of the Caringbah Leisure Centre; and

  • deciding how best to protect our beaches, waterways, and natural environment

These are big decisions and - if handled incorrectly - will change the fabric of our community.

I’m deeply passionate about our community and that’s why I’m standing – to protect our unique way of life and to fight to ensure the Shire is the best it can be.

My Committment to you

I believe that as a Councillor my role is to listen to local residents and act in a constructive and responsible manner to ensure that the decisions Council makes benefit the whole community.

I want to ensure that Council engages and delivers for our community. Council is so much more than simply rates, roads and rubbish.

We have an obligation to deliver high-quality infrastructure and services the community needs.

I will fight for you and put our community first by:

  • Opposing over-development and pushing for the infrastructure our community needs;

  • Improving and expanding our parks, playgrounds, and sporting facilities;

  • Delivering new and improved road infrastructure to ease traffic congestion and increase parking;

  • Ensuring Council engages and involves our community in decision making;

  • Protecting our environment and unique lifestyle; and

  • Investing in our community to support local businesses and create more jobs.
