What we stand for

What We've Done

Since 2016, Jack Boyd and the Labor Councillors have fought to deliver high quality infrastructure across the Shire.

Some of these projects in B Ward and across the Shire include:

  • The recent development of the Seymour Shaw Masterplan to ensure improvements for existing sporting users and deliver new recreation opportunities through the establishment of an Active Youth Sports Precinct, exercise area, new community facilities and a large children’s playground.

  • The $41M major refurbishment of the Sutherland Entertainment Centre and renovation of the historic Sutherland School of Arts

  • Purchase of a property in Oak Rd Kirrawee for the creation of a new park (expected completion early 2022)

  • Construction of Biddy Giles Park in Kirrawee. A large playground and park located in South Village.

  • Upgrades to Gymea Bay Baths and a commitment to develop a Masterplan for a major overhaul of this hidden gem

  • Record investment in local roads and footpaths (more than $20M in this budget alone!

ADVOCATING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

We’ve also played a key role in advocating for the issues that matter to our community – fighting to save local homes from compulsory acquisition by the State government, ensuring the Shire gets its fair share in infrastructure, amending State planning controls that would see our suburbs filled with large scale development.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been providing input into the development of numerous strategic plans which will determine local planning, environmental management, infrastructure construction and maintenance as well as service delivery for years to come.

WHAT WE'LL DO

Jack, Rose and Nick believes that Council should listen to local residents and make decisions that benefit the whole community.

They want to ensure that Council does more than simply collect rates, maintain roads and pick up your rubbish.

Over the next three year they will fight to deliver high quality infrastructure and services the community needs. They will:

  • Oppose over-development – particularly through rezonings due to occur in the next term of Council;

  • Push for the infrastructure our community needs;

  • Improve and expand our local parks, playgrounds, and sporting facilities;

  • Prioritise our cultural scene, supporting initiatives like Walk the Walls, music in the park, improving Hazelhurst and supporting local community events;

  • Deliver new and improved road infrastructure to ease traffic congestion and increase parking in our town centres;

  • Ensure Council engages and involves our community in decision making;

  • Protect and improve Council services such as libraries and childcare;

  • Invest in our community to support local businesses and create more jobs, including good local jobs in Council; and

  • Protect our environment and unique lifestyle.
